NEW:
The CYL is now the RYL! (Rocky Mountain Youth League)
We’re thrilled to announce that the Colorado Youth League (CYL) is now the Rocky Mountain Youth League (RYL)!
This change is designed to strengthen the volleyball community and inspire even more young athletes to fall in love with the game. While RYL will now be housed under RMR, all participating clubs will maintain the autonomy that has always been central to the program’s success. The RYL is a stepping stone between recreational volleyball and full club play.
● The RYL is designed for players (14 and under) seeking a higher level of competition and skill development, but “near home, and relaxed.”
● RYL mimics foundational aspects of club—such as rules, competition format, and the spirit of teamwork—while keeping things accessible and fun.
● The program provides valuable exposure to the club environment without the time, cost, and stringent requirements of traditional club volleyball. Key Program Details
● Autonomy: Each participating club continues to run its own program, preserving the independence and culture that make each club unique.
● Streamlined Cost Structure: Fixed Player Fee: Each club will charge $475 per participant.
● League Format:
○Each team is expected to play in all five events
○ All competitions will be held on Sundays, aligning with club volleyball schedules and freeing up more court space for practices & events

○ RYL #2: October 19th
○ RYL #3: October 26th
○ RYL #4: November 2nd

■ Most of you are already RMR members, so NO EXTRA FEE!
○ Players new to RMR pay only $20 for the RMR RYL membership!
● Format:
○ Four-team pools play “two sets to 25 points, no cap, no deciding set”
○ Three-team pools play “match play 25, 25, deciding set to 15, no caps.”
○ Tournament Format TBD (based on number of teams and courts)
● Age Definitions and Playing Rules are “same as USAV”
○ RYL offers 14s, 13, 12s and 11s. (we’ll combine divisions if necessary)
○ Boys 8-13 may play in RYL (12s with 12s, but B13s with girls 14s)
○ Your team CAN “play up an age division” (but for the entire season!)
○ We’ll keep using flip-score only… no paper scoresheets!
○ No referees on board yet, but we’ll try to do some ref-training here!
In Summary: The transition to RYL marks an exciting new chapter for youth volleyball in our region. The program continues to offer an accessible, competitive, and fun environment for developing players, while maintaining the independence and spirit of each participating club.
