Additional information about recruiting:

When can college coaches contact you?

Both NCAA Division 1 and Division 2 volleyball coaches can begin contacting high school athletes on June 15 after their sophomore year. At this time, they may extend verbal offers and communicate through emails, texts, instant messages, and phone calls.

ACADEMIC ELIGIBILITY

The NCAA Eligibility Center verifies the academic and amateur status of all student-athletes who wish to compete in Division I or II athletics.

Division I & II Requirements

  • Graduate from high school.
  • Complete 16 core courses (both divisions now require 16).
  • Maintain a minimum GPA in core courses.
  • Earn a qualifying ACT or SAT score.
  • Request final amateurism certification from the NCAA Eligibility Center.

For Division I athletes enrolling from August 2016 onward, additional requirements include:

  • At least a 2.3 GPA in core courses.
  • Meeting an increased sliding-scale standard (e.g., an SAT score of 1,000 requires a 2.5 GPA).
  • Completing 10 of the 16 core courses before senior year, with seven in English, math, and science.

Division III & NAIA

  • Division III schools set their own academic requirements—contact the college directly.
  • NAIA schools have separate eligibility rules, so reaching out to the institution is the best approach.

What is the difference between NCAA divisions, NAIA, & JUCO?

  • NCAA Division I: 12 Full ride scholarships (usually a yearly commitment)
  • NCAA Division II: 8 Full ride scholarships or equivalency of.
  • NCAA Division III: Financial packages can be offered based on academics.
  • NAIA: Separate from NCAA & can offer Athletic and Academic packages.
  • JUCO: 2 year schools that can offer Athletic and Academic packages.
